BRiSON ON LOCATiON: V103 SOUL SESSiON/R&B SPOTLiGHT
Last night reminded me of exactly why I LOVE living in the A! V103 teamed up with Remy, Lincoln, Devyne Stephens, and a few other sponsors to bring one of the most exclusive events to hit Atlanta, the R&B Spotlight at Club Opera. This musical event brought out the right amount of new school R&B infused with just enough old school to make you feel good in your soul. Last night's performers included Ray Lavender, Lil Ronnie, Noel, Rozelle, Keri Hilson, Monica (who showed that she and special guest Luda are "Still Standing"), Keith Sweat (who brought out Lil' G of Silk), and a killer closing performance by "Mr. White Chocolate" himself, Robin Thicke. As if the performer list wasn't tight enough, the VIP section was extra star studded with spectators such as Akon, Nicole Ari Parker, Boris Kodjoe, Polow Da Don's label Zone 4, Jazze Pha, Bryan Michael Cox, Dirty Rose, and so many more. Is Michael Jackson planning a comeback...this weekend???
It's no big secret that MJ is gearing up for the release (or rerelease rather) of his classic CD Thriller. Songs have already leaked, but what's even more major is that they are launching a major nation-wide campaign for the release of this album. Rumors speculate that the campaign will begin this weekend during the Superbowl. Some reports claim that Jackson will be gracing the post-game stage, while other have kept their suggestions merely to a Pepsi commercial that will run during the big game. Either way it goes, I hope you are ready to fade back to black, as our favorite white woman (Michael) gets ready to take us back through the "Thriller" journey that began 25 years ago.

I guess I am gonna get all the help I need to make this point, eh? Check the video below, which features singer Akon reacting to someone throwing a water bottle at him at a recent concert. The crowd helps him locate the person that threw it, he then proceeds to pick the guy up and literally throw him back into the crowd. Again, this looks like little more than a publicity stunt. But what is the point?

Verizon promoted Akon as one of the musicians on its mobile-phone music service, and said it would no longer sponsor the Gwen Stefani tour in which Akon, who recently performed on "American Idol," is the opening act.
"This week the partnership ended," Verizon said in a statement to Fox News. "We have music services on our cell phone service and we were promoting him as one of the artists. The other part of the sponsorship was the Gwen Stefani tour, of which he was an opening act. We are no longer sponsoring the tour."
Akon Issues a Statement Regarding Molestation Accusations
Earlier in the week, Akon issued a statement to an Atlanta DJ giving his thorough and complete apologies to Trinidad (and the culture), as well as to anyone offended by this act. He wanted everyone to know that he was under the impression that Trinidad follows STRICT club policies, and that EVERYONE inside the Trinidadian club was supposed to be over 18, and carded. This obviously was not the case. Akon then further said that he didn’t come on stage until after 2:30 AM, which further proves that any minors should have been at home in the bed! We’ll let you decide on this one…but I’m sure this will not hurt Akon’s pockets, diamond mind (in Senegal), nor any of his 3 wives!!!

Eminem has patched up his differences with childhood sweetheart Kim Mathers and are engaged again - according to Akon. Akon, who teamed up with the Stan star on hit song Smack That, says the couple may have their differences but can't live without each other.
