1. Congratulations to Lil Wayne, who moved 423,000 copies of The Carter III in the FIRST DAY. Who says hip-hop is dead? This is just a lesson in that hard work and passion for your craft can bring new life to any "dying" art form. Who can argue that he is not the greatest rapper today other than Kanye? He told us he was the best and we didn't believe him and he stepped up, worked harder, and showed and proved! I wonder how DJ Chuck T (who famously leaked this album to the internet 2 weeks before it was released) feels now? Where are all the people who say music sales are on the decline? Maybe, it's just that great music is GREAT MUSIC. Leave it at that. Check out a great article on SOHH.com where the producers of this album talk about each track HERE.
2. Stop hating on Usher! It is always hard to accept unexpected change in others when we may not be changing in the same ways, however Here I Stand is a MASTERPIECE of vocal ability and demonstration. Before you get caught up in the hate, actually take some time and LISTEN to the album. Usher is growing up (as we all should be doing in our 20s and 30s) and his music is reflecting his growth. We would call him FAKE if he came out talking about the subject matter of 8701 or Confessions at this point in his life because we know he is not living that? So, what's a man to do? Take your stand, Usher.
3. My advice to Janet Jackson is to reinvent yourself like you did for your classics Control, Rhythm Nation 1814, and Janet. We haven't seen a new side of Janet since then!
4. Britney Spears' last album Blackout, was her BEST ALBUM TO DATE. Go buy it. The drama in her personal life overshadowed the great album that is a credit to her and all those who worked to produce it.

It's time to see who's album is making the high scores on J.Write's Album Report Card. This is the 1st edition of my report, so why not change the game up a little bit and allow our brother, The Prince of All Media the chance to give his mark ups on two of the year's most anticipated albums, Janet Jackson's Discipline, and Erykah Badu's New Amerykah Part 1 4th World War.

I first want it to be known, I love Erykah Badu as an artist. I think she is extremely talented and you have to be at a certain level to fully understand where she's coming from in many of her lyrical contents. The title alone should let you know that she is on either a whole new logic of thinking and understanding or that she's smoking some really good pot - or possibly both! This is one of those albums that I couldn't listen to just once, because it would have been an immediate "write off" and I would have to cancel the contest that we just had on the web site over it. But after a second listen, I must admit, I absolutely LOVE it!
Report Card Grade: B-

Okay, I must admit, though I was content with Janet's last two previous releases Damita Jo & 20 Y.O. the masses weren't! But ladies and gentlemen, it is a brand new day with her newest album Discipline. This album is definitely a come back for the "Pop Diva." Though I must admit, I'm not a big fan on albums having more than one interlude, and Janet seems to be the queen of giving you twenty or more interludes, it's definitely a album that you will listen to from beginning to end without skipping a track.
Report Card Grade: A-

I finally sat down and watched Janet Jackson's "ever-so-deep" FEEDBACK video yesterday with Plan.B (who loves the video) and it sparked an interesting conversation about who has the better videos between Janet and Missy. Both are creative artists, but one has definitely been around the block a few more time than the other, but in all honesty...I'mma have to ride with Missy on this one. Her videos kind of speak to me in a different way than Janet's videos do, even though I do give Janet credit for having very creative videos. Missy always comes hard with the dancers, not to mention cuts one good rug right with them...which can't really be compared to the fact that Janet also kills her routines. I'll let a couple speak for themselves...

By the way, I do like Janet's new joint...I just think wayyyyy to deep, and/or over analyzed; plus it's very similar to the last Missy video posted...sorry Janet, but she been there and done that (and had Kim in there for a lil flavor)!!!

So both sides have been delivered (even though one with more videos...lol), so it's time for you to decide. So who really has the better videos? This is NOT a question of who is a better artist! We simply want to know who puts out the better material when it comes to music videos. The poll will be open all week, and will close at 5:00PM on Friday.

Missy Elliott is truly one of the great artists of our time. The visualizations of her songs via music videos are truly genius. J.Write gives some nice examples of what makes Missy really really hot.
