Do you have your hata blockas on? If not, you better watch out, because if you are on your grind and moving towards your goals in life, you’re bound to come across many hatas
(or haters, depending on how you wanna spell it). But when you have such natural gifts and the courage to be unique in this industry of cookie-cutter artists, can it be that hard to be liked? Earlier this year, Bri'Son Ent sat down with the Miami native to ask him this and much more.
Ac, which artist would you say you are most influenced by?
Well, that’s a hard question. From old school to new school there’s Special Ed, Biz Markie, Digital Underground all the way to Ludacris today.
What would you say about your personality that makes you courageous enough to be unique amongst an industry of followers?
I have very high expectations for southern music. I want the world to look at us and say, “good music is good music and they make good music and it speaks for itself.”
In your bio on your website, it says that you are a brother to 8 sisters. Wow! How do you manage to maintain your sanity with so much estrogen?!?
Just get out the house, pimp!
In you bio, it also states that you were studying for a degree in Psychology in Tampa @ University of South FL. Did you graduate?
Yes, I graduated.
So what do you say to the 17 or 18 year old who is trying to decide whether he should go for that degree or pursue their dreams in entertainment?
Like they say, “You gotta go broke before you make it.” So I say stay persistent but it is also important to have a backup plan.
I think I remember reading somewhere that on your current album, you produce all your own beats. Is this true?
Yes.
Do you consider yourself more of a producer or an artist?
I’m growing each day as an artist. I am trying to become a better artist and producer. I was a producer first.
What is the name of the album?
ACAFOOL
Where can we cop it?
Amazon, FYE, Best Buy, all major retailers.
Tell us about First String? Is this your company or did someone at First String invest in your talent?
First String was started by myself and two other people.
How do you balance the business side of music and the artistic?
I keep a large to-do list and delegate responsibilities. I try to cater to everyone’s strength.
Who are some up and coming artists that you look at and say, “They doing their thing?”
I think we are still looking for that trendsetter.
Your subject matter has a strong “everyday people” essence meaning you rap about very relatable subject matter to our culture and in a very clever way. How did you come to be this way with your art?
Well, people have always felt that they can come to me with their problems. They will sit down and just open up. That is my goal as an artist to have people relate to my music. I feel like Hip Hop is today’s Civil Rights Movement. Everybody is speakin’ but not everyone is listening. It is about the message that you put out. You have to be careful when you get on that mic what you say.
Yeah cause life is so much more than trappin and d-boyz and things of that nature. I mean that is a part of some lives…
[Interrupting] Yeah, because I’ve never been that person. I’ve seen people go that route in their lives but that’s not me.
