The stage was bonkers with performances by the St. Lunatics, Mario, Gucci Mane, Jermaine Dupri, Kinfolk; but the definite crowd pleaser was a dope, unexpected Goodie Mob reunion...even Cee-Lo blessed the stage! Check out the video of Nelly and his crew spittin a lil something.

BRiSON 07 Flashback: Gucci Mane & Lil Kim at Gucci's Album Release Party

Posted by Jason Dinsmore on Thursday, January 3, 2008 , under , , , |

Welcome to 2008! We thought it'd be nice to start the new year with a quick blast from the past...this one is pretty recent, but you know Gucci & Kim are both BRiSON favorites. Here are a couple pics from Gucci's Album Release Party last December. As you can see he is still "SO ICY"! BIG ups to Kim too; she definitely looks fly! Props to Marlon the Magician for the pics...he's the realest Lil Kim fan I know!!!!!!!

Gucci does good in the hood…and it’s for the kids!!!

We haven’t been able to touch upon all of the hot music that was released in the recent weeks, including albums from Bow Wow & Omarion, The Dream, Wu-Tang, Mary J. Blige, Lupe Fiasco, Chingy, Jaheim, and of course a BRiSON favorite Gucci Mane, who dropped his 4th studio album Back to the Trap House last week, which features songs “Freaky Gurl [Remix]” and club banger “I Might Be”. Now everybody is aware of the recent struggles with the law that Gucci went through in 2005, but 2 years later Gucci is stepping up to show that his past will not warrant his future. Instead of the normal album release parties that trap stars turned entertainers usually throw, Gucci stepped the game up and went to schools to pass out toys and clothes for needy children in Metro Atlanta. Way to break the mold Gucci Mane, and involve the people that really listen and support you…the kids!

GUCCI MANE vs T.I. UPDATE: Gucci explains song on radio!

Posted by DJ Plan.B on Wednesday, July 11, 2007 , under , |

Gucci Mane came on WHTA-FM (Hot 107.9) in Atlanta, GA to explain his song dissing rapper T.I.

FUNNY PIC: The kids even love TI!!!

Posted by Jason Dinsmore on Monday, July 9, 2007 , under , , , |

Judging from the previous post about TI's latest beef with Gucci Mane, it's obvious that not everybody in the A is feeling TI nor TIP...but from this picture, it's also obvious that he's capturing an entirely different age group. I can personally attest that this kid not only is confident that he too can rap like TI, he is also forsure that he'd like his life to go moreso in the manners of TI and not of his alter-ego TIP. My advice is to stay in school...and you can be ANYTHING your heart desires! But for now, aiming to be (like) TI is not a bad goal!!!

In a daring and very bold move, rapper Gucci Mane, who has been profiled on BRiSON many times over the past few months, has released a track aimed at fellow Atlanta rapper T.I. The track, apparently titled "What Kinda KING? (I smell P***y)" speaks out on various issues related to T.I.'s promotion of his latest CD, T.I. vs T.I.P., including his performance at Hot 107.9's Birthday Bash concert in June. Lyrics from the track, include:

"What kinda KING do the birthday bash in the middle of the summer in some f**king leather pants?"

"What kinda n**ga try to start up beef, then try apologize on national TV?"

"...b**ch n**ga I be on Bankhead more than you do!"
LET US KNOW WHAT YOU THINK!!

Official: Gucci Mane inks deal with Asylum/Atlantic for new label SO ICEY

Posted by DJ Plan.B on Wednesday, June 13, 2007 , under , , |

Gucci Mane, the Atlanta rapper known for his hit "So Icy" with Young Jeezy - and the subsequent fallout between the pair that led to a death and murder investigation - and for current club bangers "Freaky Gurl" and "Pillz" off his current album Hard to Kill released last year, has signed a new deal with Asylum/Atlantic Records as part of an agreement involving his new label So Icey and Czar Entertainment.

Gucci is slated to release his third album through his new label this summer. The project will include appearances from Pimp C, Rich Boy, and R&B group Silk. Producers Nitti and former Young Jeezy collaborator Shawty Redd are expected to work on the project.

"It was a great coup for us to land Gucci Mane. He's one of the most charismatic and acclaimed rappers on the street, with an extraordinary life story and the authenticity and talent to back it up," remarkedTodd Moscowitz, President of Warner Music Group's Independent Label Group (ILG).

"Gucci has been writing poetry and stories since he was ten-years-old, and it shows in the creativity and depth of his music. He is a brilliant rapper and a fantastic character who is injecting real originality and humor into the hip-hop landscape. Since releasing his first album two years ago, he has emerged as a compelling true-life storyteller with a unique voice and undeniable star power. I am thrilled to welcome Gucci and his So Icey label into the Atlantic and Asylum family," Atlantic Chairman/CEO Craig Kallman added, also via statement.

Gucci Mane was previously signed to Big Cat Records where he released the 2005 album Trap House and spawned the single "Icy" and his current album Hard to Kill.

Bri'Son Ent EXCLUSIVE - Interview with Marlon "Big Cat" Rowe

Posted by DJ Plan.B on Sunday, April 22, 2007 , under , , , |

Hailing from Queens, NY, Marlon “Big Cat” Rowe comes from Jamaican heritage. Like many of us, he credits his mother as his inspiration, who “always told me to do something positive.” Big Cat knew that music was his “way out [of] the streets.” In 1999, he formed Big Cat Records, now the home of recording artists Maceo, Rasheeda and Gucci Mane. Bri’Son Ent spoke with Big Cat to discuss his recent release from prison, his business sense, and the artists on his roster, including the soon-to-be-newest addition, rapper Khia (“My Neck, My Back,” also featured on Janet Jackson’s “So Excited”)!

What would you say is the thing you are most proud of to date with Big Cat Records?

Well we were the first independent label to sell over 300,000 units. I am very proud of that.

Big Cat, how does it feel to be a free man after serving a prison sentence and what advice would you give to anyone that ends up facing your type of situation?

It’s good to be free; prison ain’t the place for nobody. Anyone who has been in my situation should get focused and stay focused and realize that there is something better than prison out there for them.

With the success of Gucci Mane, Rasheeda, and Maceo, what would you say is the biggest factor that contributes to there success, be it ambition, preparation or whatever?

Work ethic. They gotta be able to get out there and grind and work hard. Anyone who works with us has to be ready to work.

Congratulations on brokering a 7 figure deal for Gucci Mane. Many believe that the situation with him and Jeezy was an act of jealousy, because Gucci is the better artist. Do you agree?

Well, Def Jam wanted a song and I knew we had a hit (“Icy”). I didn’t wanna let it go! Jeezy came to re-do “Icy” and an argument started. Egos and all that. Gucci Mane went to jail for 6 months and if he was out we could have sold more units than if he was locked up cause he could have been there to promote.

What would you say behind the scenes, is the hardest part of the day to day maintenance of a record label?

I make retail calls, radio calls. I do everything. I like to have my hand in everything. I like to be independent. Majors give a little up front money but I like to be in control of what is going on.

What does the future hold for Big Cat Records?

We have new music coming from Maceo, Young Snead, Black Magic and we are about to sign Khia…

KHIA? Really?

Yeah I knew Khia before I went to prison. Hopefully, she’ll be signed before the end of the week.

We also have an independent movie coming out, called the Trap House. “Ox” from BELLY is in it (Louie Ranking).

What would you say is the FIRST thing young entrepreneurs should do when starting a label?

First, get a HIT RECORD. They puttin’ billboards up and passing out flyers and paying for space in magazines. Get the hit record 1st, then work the streets. Make the streets accept your music.

How did Gucci go about getting signed?

Well, Gucci kept stressin’ about how he wanted to go to a major. As long as I make my money and the numbers are right, I say let’s do it. He liked the deal Atlantic had on the table. I am still gonna make monies on Gucci’s albums.

We’re that machine that wants to bring new artists to that next level. Bring them from zero to 100.

Now we’re negotiating as Atlantic wants to get behind Gucci’s new singles “Freaky Gurl” and “Pillz,”…we’re probably gonna shoot videos for both songs.

When did you first know you had a talent for scouting artists?

I don’t know, it’s just a gift.

Any last words?

There’s enough $ in the industry to go around, you feel me?

BIG CAT RECORDS' CEO RELEASED - Gucci Mane signs 7-figure deal

Posted by DJ Plan.B on Monday, April 2, 2007 , under , , , , |

If you don't know the name BIG CAT RECORDS, you probably are just more familiar with the artists on the roster. With Gucci Mane ("So Icy," "My Chain," "Pillz," "Freaky Gurl"), Rasheeda ("Bubble Gum" and "Georgia Peach), and Maceo ("Hoe Sit Down" and "Nextel Chirp") lining the ranks, label CEO Marlon Rowe can take his label to the next level.

Well it appears he is poised to do just that, as he brokered a seven-figure deal with Atlantic Records (T.I., B.G.) for Gucci Mane after serving a 14-month sentence in federal prison on a gun charge. "I've had a lot of time to think and I'm a lot wiser now," says Rowe. His label was most recently lauded by Billboard Magazine for being one of the Top 15 R&B and Hip-Hop labels of 2005.
We wish Mr. Rowe and Big Cat Records much success in the future. With several hits on Gucci Mane's latest Hard to Kill, it is no suprise that labels would be breaking their backs to sign such a proven talent. Stay informed as we hope to speak with Gucci, Rasheeda and other Big Cat artists in the very near future.
