Jeezy is infamous for bringing out the hottest of the hot during his Birthday Bash set (think back to last year when he brought out Jigga); and this year is no different. Not only did he kill it with Usher, he brought out Kanye to Put On for His City!!!! Peep the footage..do I heat Mr. Lo -Lo himself coming to the stage; yup coming down from the ceiling!!! Keep it locked!

RANDOM THOUGHTS...

  1. Congratulations to Lil Wayne, who moved 423,000 copies of The Carter III in the FIRST DAY. Who says hip-hop is dead? This is just a lesson in that hard work and passion for your craft can bring new life to any "dying" art form. Who can argue that he is not the greatest rapper today other than Kanye? He told us he was the best and we didn't believe him and he stepped up, worked harder, and showed and proved! I wonder how DJ Chuck T (who famously leaked this album to the internet 2 weeks before it was released) feels now? Where are all the people who say music sales are on the decline? Maybe, it's just that great music is GREAT MUSIC. Leave it at that. Check out a great article on SOHH.com where the producers of this album talk about each track HERE.
  2. Stop hating on Usher! It is always hard to accept unexpected change in others when we may not be changing in the same ways, however Here I Stand is a MASTERPIECE of vocal ability and demonstration. Before you get caught up in the hate, actually take some time and LISTEN to the album. Usher is growing up (as we all should be doing in our 20s and 30s) and his music is reflecting his growth. We would call him FAKE if he came out talking about the subject matter of 8701 or Confessions at this point in his life because we know he is not living that? So, what's a man to do? Take your stand, Usher.
  3. My advice to Janet Jackson is to reinvent yourself like you did for your classics Control, Rhythm Nation 1814, and Janet. We haven't seen a new side of Janet since then!
  4. Britney Spears' last album Blackout, was her BEST ALBUM TO DATE. Go buy it. The drama in her personal life overshadowed the great album that is a credit to her and all those who worked to produce it.

BRiSON PiCKS OF THE WEEK: USHER, DANiTY KANE, and DAY 26

Posted by DJ Plan.B on Tuesday, March 25, 2008 , under , , , , |

Shouts out to new Def Jam recording artist Rocko cause I gotta steal his line! My BRiSON motto for the day is "Umma Do Me!" lol It's so important to let your OWN spirit shine through in everything you do cause that's how you leave your mark.

Okay, let me stop with the philosophical here is the music that WILL NOT LEAVE OUR iPODS, laptops, or car CD players this week:

DAY 26 "SINCE YOU'VE BEEN GONE" - Go get these boys' new CD in stores TODAY! Day 26 honestly has made compelling music that certainly displays their artistry. Vocally, these boys make great songs for this to be their first album. With Danity Kane's SMASH album last week and now this, is this the return of the Bad Boy Empire?

USHER "MOVIN MOUNTAINS" - from his upcoming CD titled "Here I Stand" in June 2008 Usher has, in my opinion, a Grammy nominated track in this song. Certainly produced by C. Tricky Stewart and The-Dream (though many report Timbaland as the producer, which is certainly possible, though I am certain the Dream has vocals on the bridge) all involved have created a masterpiece!

DANITY KANE "PRETTY BOY" - Produced by , Danity Kane has created an amazing album! Most of the songs are excellent singles and sure to be hits in nightclubs and parties across the country. They may have created the best Dance/Pop Album of 2008.

ATLANTANS DOMiNATE BiLLBOARD THiS WEEK

Billboard magazine’s Hot 100 chart reads like a who's who in Atlanta this week; R&B superstar Usher’s “Love In This Club,” featuring rapper Young Jeezy and produced by consistent hitmaker Polow Da Don has made rare long jump from #51 to #1 on the singles chart.

The song is now the first single from Usher’s June release — “Here I Stand” — is also SoundScan’s top digital track, as well as iTunes’ #1 during the first week of its release. That makes Usher’s 8th #1 single.

And, to boot, pop queen Janet Jackson’s new CD “Discipline” sold more than 181, 075 copies its first week, rocketing it to the top of The Billboard 200 albums chart. The last time Jackson did those kind of SoundScan numbers was her “All For You” album released in May of 2001.

USHER TALKS ABOUT FAMILY, CHILDREN, MUSIC

Posted by DJ Plan.B on Thursday, December 20, 2007 , under , , , , , |

Check out these notable quotes from new daddy and R&B Superstar Usher Raymond:

• On the funniest thing about fatherhood: "The funniest thing ever was Jermaine Dupri watching me change a diaper. He was like, 'You're officially a daddy, dog.' "
• On taking pics of the baby, Usher Raymond V: "I've become an instant photographer," he offers. "Developing them and everything." He shows AJC columnist Sonia Murray a picture of the baby — who may have more hair than daddy — during his first bath in the sink. "It looks like he's posing doesn't it?" the admiring father says. "I wonder where he gets that from? He's going to be a lady-killer!"
• On marriage: "Just to be a little more patient. Marriage is not a sprint, it's a marathon. You have to take your time and be very patient. Sometimes you've got to breathe. Step away. Walk away from each other. You'll drive each other crazy if you're not considerate of that."
• On becoming a new dog owner: "That's my buddy right there! I went and got a dog a week before I had my child. Crazy, huh? But his name is Mr. Scottie Benson...He almost got me thrown out of the house last night though, because he peed on the carpet."
• On getting a Grammy nomination earlier this month, and he doesn't even have a new CD out: "Shoot, I'm winning even in my sleep ... even in hibernation. That's a heck of a compliment."
• On when he'll finally have a new CD out: "I've been diligently working on creating a masterpiece. It's going to be out first or maybe the second quarter. I see the second quarter of next year. And there will be a video and single out at the top of the year."

(Sonia Murray also reports that Usher added that a collaboration with Michael Jackson and Atlanta rapper-singer T-Pain is in early stages. "It's been created, but it's not recorded. And as long as Michael is open to it, hey, anything goes.")

The Usher & Tameka Saga Continues...

Posted by Jason Dinsmore on Tuesday, July 31, 2007 , under , , , |

Tameka Foster is finally speaking out about the swirl of rumors surrounding her cancelled nuptials to Usher this past Saturday. "No one knows why we canceled the wedding, but I can tell you that all of the reasons that everyone is speculating and writing about are completely untrue," Foster told PEOPLE Monday, but she declined to reveal more about why the nuptials were called off. Sources tell PEOPLE at issues were family matters (Usher's mother and former manager Jonetta Patton was against the wedding) and disagreements between the would-be-bride and groom over wedding details. Foster, 37, who is now in Atlanta (as is Usher, 28) does address one rumor that spread on local radio stations and blogs – that following Saturday's canceled ceremony, she checked into a local hospital and went into pre-term labor. "We had a scare," she says. "But, I am fine and the baby is fine.” The couple announced in June that they were expecting their first child together due this fall.

USHER + TAMEKA = PUBLICITY STUNT???

Posted by Jason Dinsmore on Monday, July 30, 2007 , under , , , , , |

According to mediatakout.com (which can sometimes be take it or leave it), the Foster/Raymond wedding, which was scheduled for and cancelled on last Saturday, July 28th, may have been a scam all along. Reports claim that L.A. Reid, the supposed host of Usher's Gala, was confirmed to be doing non-profit work on the same day of the wedding, sitting as Chair for the Art for Life Fundraiser held at Russel Simmons' Hamptons estate. The source found it funny that L.A Reid would confirm for an event being held at the same time as Usher's wedding, but he in fact was confirmed. So does this mean that there was no "cold feet" involved? Do I smell a publicity stunt? Is that a young "stunter" she's pregant with? LOL OR...maybe they BOTH actually know about each other...
