DEAR CiARA, WHO ARE YOU?

Posted by DJ Plan.B on Tuesday, September 9, 2008 , under , |

Dear Ciara,

After watching the VMAs on Sunday, I am convinced something is wrong. When I heard R&B starlet Ciara (Harris) respond to questions by interviewers Sunday, I asked myself, "When did Ciara start talking like that?" Ci-Ci, you seemed very different from your normal self. Is the celebrity and your rumored obsession with Beyonce-esque fame getting to you? Nothing about you seemed authentic this time around. And I am concerned. To me, you are the artist who needs to be giving classes to Janet Jackson. Why? Because you actually take RISKS WITH YOUR VOICE. My favorite track that you have recorded recently is "High Price," featuring Ludacris, with its operatic delivery. When I first heard it, I became very excited about your project as it reminded me that you are willing to think outside of the box. Your last album, Evolution, showcased that and I am ready for you to continue to take it to the next level. What we like about you is that you have an "around the way" feel though your work ethic and showmanship make you a star. Run you ambitions, don't let them run you. Stay in your lane. You don't have to be anyone other than yourself to grow even more successful in your career. Be Ciara. And if you are being Ciara, who was that woman at the VMAs? I don't know her.

Regards,

DJ PLAN.B

STAND UP TO CANCER (SU2C) : MARiAH, MARY, BEYONCĂ©, CiARA, ASHANTi, KEYSHiA, RiHANNA & MORE MAKE CHARiTY RECORD!

Posted by DJ Plan.B on Wednesday, August 20, 2008 , under , , , , , , , , , , |

What do Mariah Carey, BeyoncĂ©, Mary J. Blige, Rihanna, Fergie, Sheryl Crow, Miley Cyrus, Melissa Etheridge, Ashanti, Natasha Bedingfield, Keyshia Cole, Ciara, Leona Lewis, LeAnn Rimes, and Carrie Underwood have in common? They all chipped in to record “Just Stand Up,” an unprecedented charity single in support of Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C), a new initiative to raise philanthropic dollars for accelerating ground-breaking cancer research.

“Just Stand Up” was conceived by Antonio “L.A.” Reid, Chairman, Island Def Jam Music Group, after a powerful and inspiring meeting with the women who organized the Stand Up To Cancer campaign. The song was produced by L.A. and Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds — their first creative reunion on record in nearly two decades. “Just Stand Up” will be released to radio and will be available to purchase exclusively on the iTunes Store starting September 2nd.

“Just Stand Up” is all about the singers and the composers banding together behind SU2C’s mission: rallying the public around the goal of ending cancer’s reign as a leading cause of death. The all-star television performance premiere of the song will take place live on Friday, September 5th (8 p.m. EDT and PDT), when ABC, CBS, and NBC simultaneously devote one hour of commercial-free prime-time to this nationwide event. This will be the first simultaneous cross-network broadcast ever to raise funds for the fight against a disease.

SCREAMFEST IN NYC! A FAMILY REUNION???

Posted by Jason Dinsmore on Thursday, August 23, 2007 , under , , , , , , , , |

Screamfest 07 in New York last night turned out to be more than a spectacular concert, it was more like a family reunion! With Joc bringing out Diddy, Ciara bringing 50, 50 bringing G-Unit, TI bringing Jigga...and KANYE!!! Yup, 50 and Kanye not only in the same building, but on the same stage!
Look at how 50 is looking...WOW!!! Whether actual beef, or a beef faux paux, September 11th is going to be a huge PAYDAY for both!

Birthday Bash 12: HIGHS & LOWS

Posted by Jason Dinsmore on Tuesday, June 19, 2007 , under , , , |

Now usually BRiSON likes to play the behind-the-scenes media role at big events and concerts, but Brian and I finally found an event that it was actually cool to be on the other end; yes we actually bought tickets to Birthday Bash 12 and wanted to give our viewers the real scoop on the concert.

Birthday Bash 12 was held at a sold out Phillips Arena and it was definitely obvious that the place was packed, they even had folk sitting behind the stage, but with an all-star roster such as this one, I guess it was just worth it to be in the spot. I could run down the long list of hot performers that took the stage, but I will let you read all of the media outlets that actually worked press; I want to give you the highs and lows from a spectator position.

Highs:
  • Just about the entire A-Town repped at the show
  • Ciara's dancing (and the looks were on deck too)
  • Legends-8 Ball & MJG
  • Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes Tribute by Jermaine Dupree & Usher (no he didn't sing)
  • Lil Jon coming from the middle of the crowd & "Cranking That" Soulja Boy
  • TI's entire set!!! Including Young Dro, Big Kuntry & Young Jeezy (yes they performed "Bang (Peace Up, A-Town Down)"
  • Keri Hilson performing with Rich Boy (Keri is the TRUTH!!!)
  • Outlawz repping for Tupac's birthday (they performed Makaveli)
  • Gucci Mane was most anticipated by the crowd...I guess lots of people "might be..." (& him and Jeezy didn't even beef!!!)
  • Lil Boosie's "wipe down"

Lows:
  • Phillips Arena's sound system (we couldn't understand ANYTHING the artists were saying, we just sat and waited for the beats we knew...OK we were in section 300, but you couldn't even hear on the floor so I'm told)
  • The Game being rushed off stage, and publicly making it known that he wasn't going anywhere until he was done performing (probably took too long still verbally smashing 50)
  • Rich Boy having to perform after TI (I'm sure his whole camp felt like that too)
  • Lil Boosie's wipe down being cut off by Phillips Arena's staff (OK it was after 11, but it is one of the hottest songs out)

BIG Ups to Tahira Wright of The Platinum Dynasty (can't wait to do more work with you) and of course to Mike Trammell of BREAK Magazine...& Sandra Rose (thanks for the pics)
