Tailor Made Loves New York 2…

Posted by Jason Dinsmore on Tuesday, December 18, 2007 , under , , |

There’s one person on tv that we all love to hate and last night most of America…ok, black America tuned in to see her take yet another stab at “love”. You know I’m talking about Ms. Tiffany “New York” Pollard and the season finale of I love New York 2. The final selection came down to “Tailor Made” and “Buddah” and in the end, New York chose that loot over lust or something like that. But for real, “Tailor Made” won his leading lady in the end and will await her 24 month grace period to see if they will walk down the aisle…given New York’s previous engagement record, I wouldn’t hold your breath.

Check out VH1 Storytellers tonight featuring Jay-Z

Posted by Jason Dinsmore on Thursday, November 8, 2007 , under , , , , , |

Tonight, VH1 will air "Storytellers" a reknowned institution that has allowed viewing audiences insight into the creative processes of James Taylor, Counting Crows, and Jewel and many more. Tonight's show will feature none other than Jay-Z. Jigga has joined the flock of mostly acoustic singer-songwriter types. Jay-Z taped the hour-long episode at Steiner Studios in Brooklyn on October 24. His set featured eight tracks from the forthcoming American Gangster (out November 6) with backing from a 12-piece band he called the Roc Boys. Of course, interspersed throughout the performance are revelations of the songs' inspirations. The Roc Boys will also accompany the Def Jam head honcho on his tiny tour of the U.S. scheduled to start November 6 in L.A. Didn't get tickets to the shows? Too bad. Apparently, they were gone in 60 seconds.

One other piece of Jay-related news has surfaced recently: The impending signing of Jadakiss to Roc-A-Fella/Def Jam. In an interview with MTV.com, Jay said, "[The deal] is not done. It's about 90 percent [complete]."

Saaphyri Wins Flavor of Love/Charm School

Posted by Jason Dinsmore on Monday, July 2, 2007 , under , , , , |

CONGRATS to the 1st Flavor of Love/Charm School winner Saaphyri!!! Some may remember Saaphyri from the Tyra Banks Show (on the Race War season premiere), but everybody remembers her as the "GHETTO-FAB" Flavor of Love girl who got kicked off before she could even get a nickname...yup, the one with the classic prayer to GOD not to beat a b*tch's a$$. Well obviously Mo'Nique (& Atlanta's own Shay) saw something in Saaphyri which led to her being crowned the 1st ever Charm and getting that $50,000 check. I'm sure it was the heart-felt, yet still GHETTO-FABULOUS speech about using the money to buy a stable home that sealed the deal; either way, BIG UPS to Saaphyri! Don't spend all of that money at Crenshaw's beauty supply store!!!

May 19 - VH1's "Rock Docs" presents "The Last Days of Left Eye"

Posted by DJ Plan.B on Saturday, May 19, 2007 , under , , , , , , |

"The last day in the life of TLC's Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes began with an outdoor bath and her praising the sun, moments captured in filming she did in Honduras in April 2002 as she explored meaning in her existence," remarks BOB LONGINO of the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

And, in the provocative documentary "The Last Days of Left Eye," moviegoers also witness her life's penultimate moment, riding along as passengers when Lisa struggles with the steering wheel of the Mitsubishi SUV. "It is shocking video, captured seconds before the crash that killed her one month before her 31st birthday."

The movie is directed by Oscar nominee Lauren Lazin ("Tupac: Resurrection"), focuses mostly on the month the TLC member spent in Honduras before her death. "On her retreat, Lopes and friends took along a camera and began documenting her mental explorations. She talks about many things — the 1994 fire she admitted setting at the mansion of former boyfriend and football star Andre Rison, and the inspirations in Atlanta that led to the lyrics for TLC's Grammy-nominated 'Waterfalls.'"

***"The Last Days of Left Eye," will air on VH1's "Rock Docs" TONIGHT!
