GRiFF FROM HOT 107.9'S FORMER A-TEAM MORNING SHOW iSSUES A STATEMENT

Posted by Jason Dinsmore on Friday, August 29, 2008 , under , , |

It's been a wild week for radio in Atlanta! Early in the week verything seemed just fine, but early Thursday, the rumor mill went crazy suggesting that the entire 107.9 staff was being let go. I figured the majority of that to be pure rumor, but you know your favorite BRiSON Crew had to get you the real scoop. After hours of calling around, I was able to reach Griff's camp. Of course, there is no truth to the entire staff being let go, but Radio One did decide to let the A-Team Morning Show go in exchange for the sydicated Ricky Smiley Show.

Check out the official statement from Griffy 2 Trillion, one of the former A-Team members. Griff is a cool dude that is on top of his comedy game right now, in fact, I booked him for the 1st Annual THUG Awards, and whether that show was a bust or not, Griff still had the crowd rolling in stitches. Peep the statement:

"The last 3 years and 6 months at Radio One have been a life changing
experience. I thank my spiritual Father for the friends that I've metand
worked with because I've learned so much and have grown as aperson here in
Atlanta. I'm excited about my future, I have a strongteam of people helping to
take me to new heights, and I will continueto make people laugh all over Atlanta
at events and comedy clubs, while serving the community through my foundation,
Positive Vibes. When I got home today, I read a book that said: 'On this day the
will of God is done in my life.' That was all the closure I needed."

Way to stay positive through what could be a rough transition! Other A-Team members are rumored to have already secured other slots throughout the day, but stay tuned to BRiSON, we'll definitely keep you posted as more comes to light.

I have to add something to this because this is an issue I can’t ignore. I am gonna coin the types of behaviors I am seeing lately as the HILLARY CLINTON effect! After watching the debates Tuesday, Barack reminded me of a very important point. You can go through the RIGHT situation and learn the WRONG lessons from it. In the debate he used this point to demonstrate that with all the backbiting and over examination of phrases and statements instead of focusing on the issues, that Hillary has simply learned to use the techniques she was affected by in the ‘90s and turn right around to apply them against Obama. Why do we always complain about HOW THINGS ARE, but then when we get into a position to change them, all we do is turn around and do the SAME THING WE COMPLAIN ABOUT to someone else? This makes no sense at all. I challenge those of you in the business that may have forgotten this to remember that just because things have been a certain way for years does NOT mean it has to stay this way. I left long before the reported shooting but I am not surprised at all that someone got shot in that event. Why? Because the promoters demonstrated by their actions that they only cared about making money, not taking care of the patrons who care enough to support your event. Sad because of course the media is now going to sensationalize the shooting and the undertone will be that BLACK EVENTS END IN VIOLENCE, even when the best of intentions are demonstrated. Shame on you AG Entertainment! Mr. Gidewon, I would hope that your mentor taught you more than just how to rape your customers for a buck.

BRiSON ON LOCATiON: HOT ON THE RUNWAY...WHAT A BUST!!!

There aren't many times that I chose to put out negative press, but I have to go to my blog style platform for this one. Last night, Atlanta was in a celeb frenzy with Hot 107.9's HOT ON THE RUNWAY at the Compound. The show was a mixture of hip hop and fashion, but seemed more like a money plot if you ask me! First things first, let me give the little credit that I can; at least all the scheduled performers showed up...Block Ent's JC & Gorilla Zoe (both of which will be performing during THUG Awards events), Konvict Music's Ray Lavender, Mario, Ashanti, and Ray J. The crowd was even surprised with performances by Rocko and Young Jeezy, but this is Atlanta, so that's all to be expected...so on with the rest of the night. The doors were to open at 9 (of course they send out 1000's of email passes CLAIMING to let the public in free with the pass before 10:00). Well after seeing the crowd get rerouted from the regular line to the VIP line, I quickly caught on to the LAME plot to keep the door still until after 10 (as if AG Entertainment or Radio One needs any more loot). We walked over to VIP and even saw the ladies of P.Valentine (Sherlita Patton & Tracey Valentine) being made to wait...maybe they don't know that's Big Boi's wife, or maybe they just don't give a d@mn! Either way, the staff manner in which their staff behaved was not only EXTRA, but RUDE to the folks that come in and pay their bills. Now on to the show...they had us packed like sardines in one section of the biggest club ever, which made for lots of attitudes and swollen feet (see how fashion and standing mixes together...not well huh?), but even more so than the standing room only, they held the show until almost 11:00, so you know by 12 when I left I was done!!! So done that we ended up missing Ray J and Yung Berg. Reports are surfacing that Ray J was in the spot with a certain label mate of Mario's (J.Records) whose wig looked as hot of a mess as the "stage manager" that tried to keep media away from getting photographs...don't worry, I got a nice pic of her (she took up the majority of the stage & standing room with her body mass alone, but I'mma be nice). I'm sure things don't seem all that bad with all of the banging performances and hot clothes from just about every major urban designer (Ashanti eve gave away a $5000 Dolce & Gabanna bag), but if you aren't convinced yet that the event was that bullsh!t, I woke up this morning to hear that someone was shot two times while sitting down at the after party (which ironically was at the same spot...told you they were on some Baby D sh!t...BOUT MONEY!!!!), police says there were no witnesses, nor the sound of gun shots, just someone found shot twice, slumped over a couch. Maybe they were aiming for that witch of a stage manager...yup the one in the pic below!!! Sorry to have to stoop to your level ma...but if I don't blast you, you'll never RESPECT the game (call it the teacher in me!!!) She's lucky that the pic is unclear, but one of our readers will unveil her to me...oh yeah ma, I'm at you like you were at me!!! LOL

Now on to what I was ORIGINALLY invited there for...PRESS (if mama doesn't tear me a new one for doing my JOB!!!)

Pics (L-R): Ray Lavender, Rocko, Mario, Ashanti & Miss Shyneka, Young Jeezy, Gorila Zoe & JC
Stay tuned for more footage and pics from the show...I mean, if it's ok with Miss lady...LOL (I'm not bitter or anything...)

P. Valentine Fashion Show - PICS (***UPDATED***)

Wow what a week! Last night, me and DJ Smoke attended the Universoul Circus. Special thanks to Jabari for giving us the exclusive look! They had "Walk It Out" Wednesday featuring DJ UNK, Baby D, and the rest of Oomp Camp (shouts out to ya!). Unk performed several songs from his new album, including Walk It Out and 2 Step. Baby D also performed his underground smash, Do It. The event was hosted by Radio One's Hot 107.9 A-Team morning show, Griff, Rashaan, Beyonce Aloishis, and Emperor Searcy. What up team!?!? I will get pics and video of this up later tonight...

Afterwards, we headed to the P. Valentine fashion show. The designs and models were very nice and with near 70 degree weather, the whole event was bound to give you a dose of spring fever. For those of you that don't know, P. Valentine is the brainchild of Big Boi's (Outkast) wife Sherlitta Patton and Tracy Valentine. Here are some pics of me with them...I will have video of this later as well...and yes that is Big Boi's son in the pics. Looks just like 'em, doesn't it?
