BiRTHDAY BASH 08 WRAP UP...iS THERE A NEW KiNG iN THE A???

Posted by Jason Dinsmore on Tuesday, June 17, 2008 , under , , , |

The city is going crazy right now after the biggest concert hit the A this past weekend, and the joint was 100% SOLD OUT!!!! Hot 107.9's Birthday Bash brought out all of the industry's trump cards, and BRiSON was definitely on deck to get the scoop. There aren't many events that we have to decide whether or not we are even going to use our media credentials, but this is one event that has it's clear perks for being on the opposite end (or not so clear, if you know like I know...), but we did have a job to do, so we opted to get the angle from both sides!!!

First things first, let's get into the all-star roster. We already gave you the scoop on Plies, Webbie, Gucci, Jeezy, and Shawty Lo, but that isn't even the half. We never even mentioned the Florida crew, Trina, 2 Pistols, and DJ Khaled; we got there a little late, so we missed Trin-Bean & 2 P's, but we did make it to see Khaled do his thing, and bring out Akon. The Game was also in the building to show the A that the west coast is still on the map. I think everybody was expecting ATL's own Keyshia Cole to come out with him, but she never did appear. However, special guests did include the entire Bankhead Clique (Dem Franchise Boyz, Shop Boyz, D4L, etc) courtesy of the homie Shawty Lo, whose opening shut the city down. The man had an entire film before he dropped down from the ceiling (which has never been done on a Birthday Bash stage to date) to kill his debut single. Of course, everybody was on edge to see if any beef between Lo and TIP would arise, and to see whose show would reign supreme, and to much delight (some of us), there were no signs of beef in the building, but judging the best of the bet will be left up to you. I will give props to "the King" for showing up with his entire Grand Hustle crew (even Tiny sat there looking crazy as hell...bouncing her head to the beat of whichever songs made her mojo flow). I guess TI's biggest delight was announcing the newest members of his roster, 8 Ball & MJG and Atlanta Eastsider B.O.B. All in all, there can't be very many complaints about the show since everybody showed up and showed out!

Major thanks to Tahira (Branded PR) and Katena (The R Group) for holding it down on the media side, and another BIG shout out to the players of WassupNAtl for holding down the VIP suite. Good looking out Scottie & Mario...y'all dudes did it GIGANTIC on this one & BRiSON was proud to be in the spot with y'all; shout out to Tron of WhatstheT.com, make sure you visit his site to see his review on the show (get down for the youtube video response too!!!) Enjoy a few more pictures courtesy of Mike Trammell from Break Magazine & P.U.S.H.I.N. (I know our ladies will enjoy a few of these...) FYI: The pics DO NOT answer the question in the title...that one's up to you...we riding with the A on that one!!!

The Alliance Finally Goes Digital Tomorrow

Posted by Jason Dinsmore on Monday, September 17, 2007 , under , , , |

It's been a long time coming for Atlanta bred group The Alliance, but tomorrow is their day! You may know Skinny, Blackout, and Ty Cutta from spitting on the hit song Tattoo featuring Fabo (of D4L), but that isn't their entire roster. Goin Digital, The Alliance's 2nd single, and title track is blessed by the group's final member Bliss, who the group refers to as The First Lady. Goin Digital is finally set to drop tomorrow after being pushed back a few times earlier in the summer. The Alliance has definitley created a lot buzz in the south, so definitely go out and cop Goin Digital tomorrow!

Check out BREAK Magazine for my exclusive interview with The Alliance to find out how the group formed and what's in their future.

BRiSON ON LOCATION: TI vs TIP Album Listening Party

Posted by Jason Dinsmore on Saturday, June 9, 2007 , under , , , , |

On July 3rd, Atlanta native TI, or depending on the day, otherwise referred to as TIP is set to release his 5th studio album rightfully titled TI vs TIP. With the great success of his previous CD, KING, TI almost seems as if he's training for a battle, but this battle seems to be a one man fight.

In preparations for the early July release, TI hosted a listening party at the Grand Hustle Studio in Atlanta to give a few friends (somewhere in the area of a couple hundred) a sneak peak of what may be this summer's, and maybe even the entire year's most anticipated album.
The CD is a 3 part story all of which details the life of TI, alter-ego TIP, or gives you a direct step into the battle between the two with a section called The Confrontation. Even though I have personally been a TI fan since I'M SERIOUS, and once again I can honestly admit that TI is attempting to claim yet another classic. With features including Busta Rhymes, Slim Shady, and Jay-Z, TI and/or TIP will definitely show you how the hood and the "Hollywood" industry can definitely collide. Make sure to hit the music stores on July 3rd to snatch up a few copies!!!

Break Magazine & Sho'Nuff Records Presents The Sho'Biz Showcase - February 27, 2007

Posted by Jason Dinsmore on Monday, February 26, 2007 , under , , , , , , , |

Ok, I know that I have been off of my normal swagger with all of the latest events, but I don't know how I let it go this long without posting something about one of ATL's BIGGEST events of 07 - THE SHO'BIZ SHOWCASE.

Tomorrow night at D'Jangos (8:00pm) it's going down as BREAK Magazine teams up with Sho'Nuff Records to break the industry's monotony and give the public something a little different. This showcase will be an instrument to not only exhibit some of the game's hottest unknowns, but also to educate some of these indies on how to not only get into the industry, but to have some longevity.

Now some folk might be wondering...how will this showcase be hot for someone who is not a starving artist. Well besides both floors at D'Jangos pumping out music from some of the hood's best DJ's, the stage will be rocked by Sho'Nuff Recording artist HOODLUM. If that ain't enough, just come rub elbows with the nations biggest media outlets including...Break, Grip, Dapper, Upscale, Street Talk 404, Creative Loafing and many more print publications. Publicists, A&R's, and other industry exec's will also be on deck...so be on top of your business card game. You can also believe that Bri'Son Ent. will be repping big in the spot (we are also employees/contributors for the hottest indie mag out there - BREAK MAGAZINE!!!!)
