Obviously, the media has an agenda. I don't follow what the media
says. I'm a thinker for myself. And I just encourage people to be objective:
When you're watching, use your inner eye and really try to watch the person and
see what you think about them. Because you can never really capture a person in
the media blitz." - Rapper, Poet, Actor Common
We are truly living in a special time. If you are like me, it can get hard to appreciate because they are just as TRYING as they are special. But I wanted to touch on a couple of topics:
- Thank you, Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, Rihanna, and N.E.R.D. IF you have the ability to see the GLOW IN THE DARK TOUR, even if it is out of town, GO SEE IT. It is certainly the BEST CONCERT I HAVE SEEN IN YEARS. Creativity gets an A+!
- As much as we hear the media complaining about this 2008 Election in the U.S., let's not forget how HISTORIC this is. The last time North Carolina and Indiana (today, May 6, is Democratic Primary election day in those U.S. state today) played THIS BIG of a part in an election was in the '80s. Take some time and ENJOY the fact that times are changing and the HARDER WE PUSH, the more they will change!
- With all of the media attention focused on Rev. Wright and his comments, I wonder if anyone has heard about Hillary Clinton's former pastor being sentenced Friday to three years in prison for inappropriately touching a 7-year-old girl at his home last March? or the video of Clinton Pal Mickey Cantor talking about 'Worthless White N*ggers? I bring this up not to throw dirt back on Clinton because I think she threw dirt on Obama, I bring this up because we have to recognize that our world is FULL of people who think differently. It is NOT people's thoughts that threaten freedom and justice. It is people's actions to censor or LIMIT those thoughts that are NOT like their own. We must make ROOM at the table for all those who are willing to value BASIC HUMAN RIGHTS and be willing to listen to their pains as well as their joys and triumphs and laugh and cry with them because we ALL WANT THE SAME THINGS.
- A man's gift makes room for him, and brings him before great men. - Just something to meditate upon.
- Music is and always has been the universal language. The voice is the greatest instrument of them all. We are entering a time where music will have an ever-increasing importance. I sense we are on the cusp of a change that will usher in a new music movement. More on that LATER.
- Thank you! To those of you who know us personally and professionally, thank you for playing a role in our lives and for supporting this site. All we ever wanted to do here is share our voices. We are grateful for this forum.
Now, check out some new videos over in the MIDDLE of the page! We got that new Soulja Boy, Mariah, Lupe Fiaso, and new artist Karina!
