Multi-grammy winner and R&B superstar Usher Raymond confirmed Monday that his mother Jonnetta Patton is no longer in charge of his career, but denied the change was due to anything other than strengthening of the family. Many rumors have been floating recently stating that fiance Tameka Foster is behind the alleged rift between Raymond and his mother, claiming he wishes to make Foster his new manager.
"She and I are on great terms and support each other in our life's endeavors. We are both very happy but are now working in different areas of the business," he commented to The Associated Press. "This is great for me because it means I now get to have my mother strictly as my mother with no added pressure...At this time in my life, I am simply more interested in building the strength of my family. And in order to do that, I feel it's best to separate my business life from my personal life."
In March, the 28 year old star dropped a bombshell when he announced his engagement to Foster. Usher states "She has no aspirations of becoming my manager or any other artist's manager."
Usher is slated to drop the follow-up to 2004's "Confessions," which went 9X Platinum in the United States alone, later this year. His most recent musical collaborations include the remix to Omarion's "IceBox" and with R. Kelly on the song "Same Girl."

***UPDATE: 5/9/2007 - Usher's camp has also confirmed that his longtime publicist Simone Smalls has also parted ways with him. "Usher and I still remain friends," said Smalls, who still counts hip hop superstars Lil Jon, Keyshia Cole and Ne-Yo among her clients.
