Oprah Winfrey's broadway hit, "The Color Purple" has been slammed with charges of racial bias.
The show's EX-stylist and dresser, Shawnique Hill, charges in a federal lawsuit that she was booted after complaining there were too few “people of color” working behind the scenes. The complaint alleges discrimination, breach of contract and wrongful termination.
“My client is a true heroine . . . for the rights of all people of color who are underrepresented and mistreated behind the curtains on Broadway even when the most powerful black woman in America is the key investor,” said Hill’s lawyer, Christopher Serbagi. A representative on behalf of the show commented that, “We are confident there has been no violation of the law.”
