In 2009, Walt Disney will premiere its first traditionally animated film with a black princess. As of this week, the film will either be entitled The Frog Princess or The Princess and the Frog. The main character, Maddy, a 19-year-old chambermaid will be voiced by Tony-Award winning actress Anika Noni Rose. The singer/actress reportedly outshined Jennifer Hudson, Alicia Keys, and Tyra Banks (Tyra Banks????) who were all actively seeking this role. Though there are a few production details that are still up in the air, it is confirmed that Anika Noni Rose will make history with this Walt Diney film.
